During these uncertain times caused by the rapid spread of the coronavirus, and on behalf of The Bella Team, I want to reassure guests and customers of our firm commitment to you.
We know that all companies and markets have been affected by the current situation. Travel and supplies to and from the Islands are now also being effected.
The health and safety of all guest and staff is most paramount.
The hotel has been closed for the winter season, and we have liaised with all our staff both overseas and locally, and for their safety and that of our customers we have decided to review our re-opening for the summer season:
We will now re-open May the 1st 2020 and not April 1st as previously planned. We will continue to review and post updates on our website and social media accounts as they arise.
All existing reservations and bookings for April will be contacted ASAP to make alternative arrangements.
All future hotel and restaurant bookings, and general queries should be directed through: [email protected] / 01481 238764

With the launch of our very own Wheadon’s Gin last week, meaning that you’ll now be able to “take a bottle home from the Bella’s bar”, we were delighted to be featured in the current (June) issue of Delicious Magazine. Their Hungry Traveller section celebrated six places “where you can see what it’s like to be a creator of fine food and drink, get a feel for what goes on…and hole up for a couple of nights too”, and the Bella Luce was featured alongside destinations ranging from a Licolnshire flour mill to a Welsh smallholding.
Delicious journalist Hugh Thompson visited the Bella back in spring and joined Luke Wheadon for a Gin Experience around the copper stills at the back of our cellar lounge, tasting a number of different gins and cocktails to learn more about the flavours imparted by the different botanicals and to find out which particular flavours he preferred.
“Then, while you dine in the excellent restaurant (he was a chef after all), they make a gin that matches your preferences.”
You too can join Luke for your own Gin Experience, ranging from a pre-dinner talk and tasting through to having Luke distill a bespoke gin that matches your preferences whilst you dine - including a bottle to take-away. And with the recent launch of Wheadon’s Gin you’ll also be able to enjoy the results of Luke’s own comprehensive taste-tests and experiments by taking a bottle of Wheadon’s pink grapefruit and locally foraged rock samphire gin away with you, meaning that you can continue to enjoy it long after you've left the Bella's bar.
