On Thursday August 30th, as part of the Guernsey Food Festival, we are excited to welcome multi-Michelin background chef Konstantinos Kritikos from Taplow House Hotel in Buckinghamshire to the Bella for a very special evening of fine food and drink.
Kostas was born and raised on the beautiful island of Crete in Greece. His passion for food was passed on to him as a young child from his grandmother, who he used to watch as she prepared traditional dishes for family meals. Following his formal training, he worked first at Crete’s Elounda Beach Hotel and then moved to the island of Santorini to work at the stunning Andronis Luxury Suites. Kostas then moved to the UK and took up a position at the Lamb Hotel in Burford, Oxfordshire (3 AA rosettes) before working for renowned chef Heston Blumenthal at both his Michelin starred Hind Head in Bray before moving on to his famous Fat Duck Restaurant (three Michelin stars).
Kostas is now the Head Chef at Berry’s restaurant at the four star Taplow House Hotel in Buckinghamshire where his menu features contemporary European dishes, several of which have a Mediterranean influence that hint at Kosta’s early inspirations.
On Thursday evening, Kostas and his sous chef Alvi will be working alongside the Bella’s Head Chef Patricio to prepare a special menu for guests. We will also be joined by an experienced winemaker, who will guide guests through the wine pairings for the dishes, and Luke Wheadon will welcome everyone with a Wheadon’s and tonic on arrival.
