Coronavirus (COVID-19) Latest Information

During these uncertain times caused by the rapid spread of the coronavirus, and on behalf of The Bella Team, I want to reassure guests and customers of our firm commitment to you.

We know that all companies and markets have been affected by the current situation. Travel and supplies to and from the Islands are now also being effected.

The health and safety of all guest and staff is most paramount.

The hotel has been closed for the winter season, and we have liaised with all our staff both overseas and locally, and for their safety and that of our customers we have decided to review our re-opening for the summer season:

We will now re-open May the 1st 2020 and not April 1st as previously planned.  We will continue to review and post updates on our website and social media accounts as they arise.

All existing reservations and bookings for April will be contacted ASAP to make alternative arrangements.

Recipe: Wheadon’s Gin Greyhound Cocktail


As Guernsey’s Gin Hotel and the home of Wheadon’s Gin, the team behind the bar here at the Bella are experts when it comes to gins and gin-based cocktails.  Our own Wheadon’s Gins have been designed to be served as gin and tonics, however if you are after something a little different then there are some great classic cocktails that suit their flavour profiles.

If you’ve got a bottle of Wheadon’s rock samphire and pink grapefruit gin at home and are looking for a summer sip to remind you of your time at the Bella Luce but that isn’t a Wheadon’s and tonic, then look no further than The Greyhound.

Here at the Bella, our mixologist George makes a great variation on a classic Greyhound:


Ingredients:

  • 50 ml Wheadon’s Rock Samphire & Pink Grapefruit Gin
  • 25 ml of homemade Sweet & Sour*
  • 3 drops of aromatic cocktail Bitters
  • 100 ml of fresh pink grapefruit juice
  • Garnished with a pink grapefruit half wheel or peel

Method:

  • Fill a Collins or highball glass with ice cubes. 
  • Add gin, sweet & sour mix and bitters, stir.
  • Top with fresh pink grapefruit juice
  • Garnish with a half wheel of pink grapefruit, or a twist of peel.

*Sweet & Sour mix is a simple syrup and citrus juice mix, made by heating equal volumes water and sugar to make a syrup (one cup of each), then adding the same equal volumes of lemon juice and lime juice (one cup of each).
