There is a great deal of Guernsey in Wheadon’s Gin. The Wheadon family have been involved in the production and distribution of fine alcohol on Guernsey for over a hundred years and it is this heritage, combined with our island’s maritime environment, that is the inspiration behind Wheadon’s Gin.
Produced in traditional copper stills in the atmospheric cellar lounge here at the Bella Luce, proprietor Luke Wheadon uses rock samphire foraged from the nearby cliffs, mandarin limes grown in a local glasshouse, and other carefully sourced botanicals to create perfectly balanced artisanal gins in very small batches.
We offer a range of gin experiences, from a simple pre-dinner tasting and cocktail through to the more involved tasting and distilling. Gin has a fascinating history and wide appeal, thanks to the variety of styles and possible flavour profiles, and we begin by guiding you through these so that together we can discover why you love your favourite gins.
A half hour introduction to the history of gin and to the Bella small batch distillery, accompanied by a Wheadon’s & tonic and a tasting of a variety of London Dry style gins.
£20 per person.
Breaking Down the Botanicals
Spend an hour with us tasting different gins and developing an understanding of the role of different botanicals, with a focus on small batch distilling and how we approach flavour at the Bella small batch distillery. We start with a Wheadon's & tonic, and finish with a martini of your choice.
£35 per person (minimum 4 people)
Design Your Own Distillation
An immersive two hour experience exploring everything from original Dutch genever though to the latest craft gins, discussing flavour and the roles of different botanicals. Your group will then design an infusion that we will distill whilst you dine, so you take away a miniature bottle of bespoke gin.
£45 per person (minimum 4 people), excluding dinner.
